A bit about Me

Jamie Bernstein, LCSW, M.s. Ed

Working with me

My approach to therapy is grounded in a genuine human connection, as that’s when I believe the most growth is accomplished. My goal is to create a space where you feel truly seen and heard—a collaborative environment that is warm, non-judgmental, and practical. Whether you are navigating a major life transition, managing the daily stressors of "the in-between," or looking to build more sustainable balance, we will work together to help you move forward with confidence.

My approach is client-centered and integrative. I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all model; instead, I draw from evidence-based practices like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), alongside Motivational Interviewing and Family Systems theory. This allows us to address both the immediate tools you need for coping and the deeper patterns that influence your relationships and well-being.

My Perspective & Background

My path to becoming a therapist was shaped by a deep interest in how we grow through change. I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) with a background rooted in both psychology and social systems. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Michigan and completed my graduate training at the University of Chicago Crown Family School of Social Work, Policy, and Practice.

Before transitioning into private practice, I spent years in the education system, serving first as a teacher and later as a school social worker. That experience—combined with my own journey as a mom of two—gives me a unique lens into the complexities of modern parenting. I understand the "invisible load" and the challenge of maintaining your own identity while caring for others.

In addition to my work with clients, I find great fulfillment in providing clinical supervision to graduate-level clinical interns and pre-licensed clinicians, helping to support the next generation of therapists.

I am passionate about helping adults create a life that feels authentic and manageable. If you’re ready to explore what’s next for you, I’m here to help.
