A bit about Me

Jamie Bernstein, LCSW, M.s. Ed

My Background

I am a licensed clinical social worker with a strong educational foundation, having earned my Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Michigan and pursued further studies at the University of Chicago Crown Family School of Social Work, Policy, and Practice. This diverse academic background has granted me a comprehensive understanding of human behavior and the intricate dynamics of social systems, setting the stage for my therapeutic journey.

Prior to becoming a therapist specializing in working with adults, I embarked on a fulfilling journey in education, first as a teacher and later as a school social worker. My background in education and child development uniquely positions me to support parents not only in understanding their children's needs but also in finding balance in their own lives. I understand the complexities of parenting and can offer strategies for navigating challenges while maintaining personal well-being. My passion for helping others navigate life's obstacles led me to transition into individual therapy. Along the way, I have also had the incredible opportunity to supervise graduate-level clinical interns, nurturing the next generation of therapists. I am here to offer you a safe space where we can explore, grow, and unlock your full potential together.

My Therapeutic Approach

My therapeutic approach is deeply rooted in a client-centered philosophy, where the individual's needs and experiences take center stage. Drawing from a blend of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing, and Family Systems theory, I strive to deliver a tailored and holistic experience for each person under my care. By recognizing the differences of every individual, I create a supportive, empathetic, and non-judgmental space that nurtures growth and facilitates the healing process.
